Gary W. Hinsche. Fascinated by Geometric Shapes

| July 12, 2012

Gary W. Hinsche moves fluidly between painting and sculpture with an eye for crisp detail and craftsmanship. As Hinsche works, an appreciation for clean lines binds together his creations in both mediums despite the varied subject matter and styles. In his series of large scale canvases rendered in acrylic paint the artist creates a grid-work of black, white and pure minimal color which is visually reminiscent of Mondrian while referencing the digitized QR scan codes so prevalent in modern consumerist society. The acrylic and resin coated wooden forms of Hinsche’s sculptures are inspired by his lifelong passion for sailing, bringing a boat-like smooth finish and structural solidity into his modern, geometric constructions.

Gary W. Hinsche studied at Santa Monica College, Long Beach State and Art Center College of Design before joining Robert Miles Runyan & Associates, a firm he later purchased and renamed Point Zero Design. Throughout his career he has won national awards and worked with many international organizations, brands, and events including the Olympics and the National Memorial Holocaust Museum.
